Stale Water Video

Post by Endo »

It's a pretty well known fact that DB water doesn't go stale(as this video claims). Still, there could be something in the boiler that is affecting the taste or possibly they are tasting 2 day old coffee oils residue (that would explain sour).

Has anyone else tried this 2 day test (mini or regular S1) and would like to comment?? (I'm not able since I can't longer than 1 day without a shot).

I think somebody needs a bottomless p/f. Looked like both shots blonded very early which might explain the "sour". If she can't pull a decent shot I don't know how much faith I'd put in her tasting abilities. Also if she had done a few warming flushes as required she probably wouldn't have gotten sour shots & the boiler would have been partially refreshed.

Yup. Sounds exactly right.

I suggested she do the same test on a HX to make a fair comparison. She could even have the 2 Vivaldi shots next to the 2 HX shots and do a real blind test. That would make a lot more sense.

Ditto for me. But it is a moot point anyway. Between the warming flush, initial sink shot and then a quick rinse it is all fresh water for my first drinkable shot.

I posted my comments to the video and most topics of discussion were ignored. I have not been impressed with their videos and technique/skills at all.

I think Lavazza would leave an 'undernote' on my palatte as well!

I know what you mean. Lavazza?? Why not use the fresh Velton coffee they have and at least stand a chance of not channelling.

Instead of using a bottomless portafilter and good coffee, they prefer to use old crap coffee and bad techniques and go " Hey Gale, it's all coming out one side again....hahaha. Isn't that weird? Geee....and this tastes sour too. Hmmmm....must be bad water".

I just spent 4 days away on a weekend getaway. On return I pulled a "stale" shot. Once again, I can honestly say this claim is total BS.

(And I suspect the water in most of the 1 billion clean water coolers and office espesso machine is still "fresh" after the weekend as well).
