dead steam heater element

Post by lexbro »

 Hello, my name is Lex Browning. I live in Portland Or. and have owned an S1 for three months. I'm very happy with the unit but my steam heater element has died. I'm waiting on a replacement from Chris's (thanks to Roger in service who's been great to work with) and I'll put in myself. Are there any factors which might have contributed to this failure -- leaving the machine on too long, etc.? What's to keep the next one from failing too?

I'm not aware of anything you could have done to cause this. Had it been caused by failure of any of the steam boiler sensors, I think that would have been obvious via other symptoms prior to failure.

I assume you are aware of the documentation on replacement of the heater element located here: http://www.rimpo.org/s1/S1Boiler.html

Thanks for your reply Mr. Rimpo -- I've studied those pictures gratefully. I'll take some additional ones since a few production changes have occurred. :D

I hope the temp probe didn't fail first. My wife heard a funny noise and shut the machine down while I was gone...
