Clear LaSpaziale Portafilter

Post by Endo »

I'm cross posting this but since it involves a LaSpaziale machine, I thought it was worth posting here anyway for discussion.

It seems this clear portfilter may have been a tool LaSpaziale used to come up with the 53mm PF diameter and group head design. Interesting what they say about headspace too. Seems to confirm what many have suspected about respecting proper headspace.

I'd love to see this video.

Although I somewhat agree with the concept that the coffee puck will expend during pre-infusion and be compressed down when the full pressure is applied.

This video has more the allure of an Urban legend than reality. It would be ill advised to conclude anything on the base of a "I-spoke-to-a-guy-that-wrote-that-he saw..."
Vivaldi II, Multiple (a collection really) Lever machines
Currently on deck grinders: Mythos and MXKR
Backup grinders: Robur, Major.
Toper Cafemino Electric and Poppery 1 roaster

I have a serious problem ... Can you guess what?

I tend to agree since it's been 5 years since this post and we haven't heard anything yet. Still, keep in mind it's the World Barista champion who's making the claim he saw the video, so I would tend to believe him.

Either way, it would be great if someone could make something like this so we could lend it out like the Scace rental program. Of course looking closely through pressurized glass does sound a bit scary.

What we need is a Scace III with transparent PF. Of course I want it in 58mm!

Ive been searching for this video, for about 8months, which was when I first read that post on Coffeed, after seeing a scant reference to it, on his blog.

It is NOWHERE.
