I have a 2010 MVII with a broken cup rail. Replacement rail from 1st Line is about $40, if it ever comes back in stock, and leaving it off exposes ugliness.
I'm thinking of alternative solutions and browsing McMaster-Carr. There are several alternatives available, including acrylic, ABS, HDPE, etc. Anybody know what the existing cup rail is made of? I figure that would be a good minimum starting point.
I'm thinking about cutting and shaping a couple of pieces just to cover the exposed inside tops of the side panels, and also fill the gap between the side panels and the top panel (cup warmer grate).
Cup Rail...what kind of plastic is it?
Re: Cup Rail...what kind of plastic is it?
It's acrylic plastic. You can make the two bends with a heat gun...
