Descale with Citric Acid?

I have hard water (13 grams of hardness). I use the in-tank water softener sold by Chris Coffee. The hardness reads just 3 grams in the tank. Obviously the softener pouch is working!

My question is whether I should descale? In my previous machine I religiously descaled using citric acid powder mixed with water. I did it about once per month.

Do folks with a Dream-T descale? Or, does the in-tank softener eliminate the need to do so?

Any thoughts? Do folks descale their Dream T?

I’ve been thinking about it. I use a blend of purified & tap water for about 4 gr hardness. When I asked Chris Coffee about it, they said I was probably good for several years.

When I run the Langlier formula it says I have little need to descale.

I just keep thinking of my ECM Classika PID where the manual was very specific about running some Dezcal through it every so often.
