weird high pressure after water pressure regulator install

Hi,
I have a La Spaziale Dream plumbed in on the water from the fridge 1/4 line. I used it without an water pressure regulator for 3 years.
The pressure on idle is reading 4.2bars.
I installed a water pressure regulator, in fact I installed 2, just to make sure,
Watts 1/4 LF 263A and Watts 1/4 LF560G
During usage, the water is around 1.5 bars, goes to 9.5bars when I run an espresso shot and goes back to 1.5 bars
When I start the machine, the water pressure goes to 6-6.5 bars and throws an alert for high pressure. it stays on 6.5 and it goes slowly down to 1.5 after the temperature gets to be stable, in around 10 minutes.
From reading through the forums it seems the pressure regulator is supposed to let some of the initial pressure to be absorbed back into the house water pressure. Not sure. Both regulators are Watts, are supposed to be good.
The questions I have:
1. Is this normal?
2. Should I stop using a pressure regulator given that the machine is stable without one?
Thank you...
