Pump priority

Hi

I have noticed that filling the steam boiler have a higher priority than pulling a shot, which surprises me a bit

It is pretty annoying to see the brew pressure drop for a period of time during a shot, when the machine desides to top off the steamboiler.

On my old VII, brewing always had the highest priority, and the steamboiler filling always waited until a shot was finished.

Any ideas how this priority can be changed on the Dream? I am on SW version 1.23.

/Kim

I'm not aware of a programming option to change that. It sounds like a firmware issue.

Does this happen because you are steaming or drawing hot water at the same time as a shot. Does it happen occasionally or constantly?

Strange. I thought the latest firmware instituted a delay in the boiler refill to reduce this from happening. It used to happen a lot with mine, but with the latest firmware hasn't happened. It's a 25 second delay in boiler refill when the group is running. The specific quote from the revision note is

"Refill the water tank” is postponed to 25 Seconds during the coffee delivery."

I don't think that's what this fix is saying. To me it says that it delays display of the "Refill Water Tank" message on the Dream T while a shot is being pulled. That's different than refilling the steam boiler.

It only happens occasionally, and I only experienced this 2 or 3 times in real shot pulling situations, where I did not draw water or steam at the same time. However, it is pretty easy to reproduce by drawing a little water while running a "shot" with a blind filter.

Thinking a little more about this, it might be a safety measure to ensure that the heating element always is fully emerged? But on the other hand, my old VII always waited patiently before filling the steam boiler. So, i wonder if this is a bug, or intended functionality.

Do you get the Low Group Pressure warning message when this happens? How low does the group pressure go when it happens?

Could be, but I definitely can say it is a very rare occurrence now, whereas it happened quite often before the firmware upgrade. When it does happen, my pressure drops from the nominal 9 bar to 6 bar.

Yes, and it drops down to around 3.3'ish bars.
