step by step replacing pump and motor heating elements

Post by triathlon61 »

I have a Vivaldi I and I need to replace the pump and motor. I also thought of replacing the elements in both boilers. Any videos or stepy step instructions out there?

I presume that your pump leaked and damaged the motor bearings?

Removing and replacing the pump is easy. I have never removed the motor but if you search you should find threads that describe taking the motor apart to replace the bearings. Why do you want to replace the heating elements if they are working? My understanding is that element failure is not very common.

The remove the pump turn off the water.
Remove the drip tray and the front panel (two screws).
Remove the water input and output from the pump.
The pump is held to the motor with a band that has a single screw to tighten it. If you are lucky the screw will point either up or down so that you can reach it with a screwdriver. If it points up you will need to remove the cup warmer tray (1 screw) to reach down to the pump screw.

Although I have never done it, I presume that removing the motor requires further stripping of the machine to expose the connections.

I bought my replacement pump directly from FluidoTech in Ct:

161 Atwater St.
Plantsville, CT 06479
860-276-9270

In April 2010 it cost $79 plus $11.04 shipping to CA.
