Basket Removal Video

Here's my basket removal technique. Very fast. No need to remove or replace wires.

Endo—I see this vid was "removed by user." I'd be interested in seeing it if you ever decide to post it again.

Thanks for your contributions to the community!

Sorry. I deleted it.

Easy enough to explain though. Just a stubby flat head screwdriver. Stick it on the PF ear and pry up the basket on one side. Do the same on the other side and out it comes.

But to be honest, once you get a naked (bottomless) PF, which is one of the first things to buy IMO, the removal becomes a non-issue.

Thanks, Endo. Do you recommend ChrisCoffee as the source? I'd like a "proper" (e.g., better than the side of my kitchen trash can) knock box, too, so I could combine for free shipping—have you used the Bumper Chute?

Chris Coffee is one of the best retailers I've ever dealt with (and I'm not just talking coffee either). I bought a Verna bottomless Rancilio portafilter from Chris Coffee and it was machined and finished very well.

I can't say much about the Bumper chute except to say I've been impressed with every other Bumper product I've bought, so I expect this chute is no exception. Just to be sure, you know it's not a box (i.e no bottom)....right?

I've been using that knock box for about 3 years with no complaints. It comes with a replacement set of the rubber parts. However, after three years I see absolutely no sign of wear on the original rubber.

Thanks, Gents...yes, I know the Bumper chute (bumbershoot?) is bottomless. Hoping to find out what the diameter is, though, so I know what trash can "bottom" to use.

Yes, we're also finding Chris is terrific to deal with. Thanks for the input, all!

I didn't pay close enough attention. My Bumper box looks like that but it's not bottomless. After doing more research I see that Cafelat bought out Bumper last year. So the knock box I have is sold here on the Chris Coffee website: http://www.chriscoffee.com/products/hom ... atknockbox

I like the inexpensive Knockout Box : http://www.chriscoffee.com/products/hom ... /knockbox2
Just drop it into a nearby drawer & its out site until you need it with no wasted counter space.

John, you're house must be built better than mine. If I had a knock box like that, I'd probably break the drawer off!

Thanks Chas! I was wondering where that box went. I'll get one of these to replace my Breville knockbox one day when I travel to Chris Coffee. Just kinda low on my priority list. (Hard to get excited about a knock box).

My house has been standing for 250 years so far so there is a damn good chance it is built better then yours but I'm wondering how hard you smack your p/f to knock out the puck. One light tap on the rubber covered bar & its in the box with no beams shaking or wood shattering.
