How important is in in-tank filter?

Post by GotGoodCoffee? »

HI, I recently had issues with stable pump pressure and was told to remove the in-tank water filter and silicone tube. It worked but I'm wondering if the filter is essential or not? Can you use bottled water with the Mini V II? I've changed the filters regularly and cleaned/backflushed machine regularly and wonder if this will be sufficient instead of using in-tank filter?
Thanks for feedback.

I've always run my Mini without the in-tank softener, just the small particle screen. I use softened/filtered water from Chris' Coffee product that I run to a filtered water tap at the sink. You certainly can use bottled water. There are a few recommended ones you can search for, but Poland Spring is pretty good.
