No worries, Chas. As you know, unfortunately I've become quite an expert on temperature sensors...... Chas. Wouldn't extra resistance cause the detector to read falsely high, thus making the controlled boiler pressure lower than normal?

Yup. I am very worried that I am going down the same rabbit hole as before. I agree that usually these sensors fail open (I guess that would be an offscale high temp). Well, just had another failure of the group temperature sensor. That makes three. Sure would be nice to know whether CCS or LaSpaz has changed the design or make to fix this. As before, the symptom is an extreme wandering temp reading. Bounces from 175 to 215 and back. Causes overheating and alarm.

Yes. I'm aware of that one and my machine has the copper tubing for the drain. Re: Low Pump Pressure Error
I have continued to get the odd seemingly random low pump pressure error, so I decided to test some theories, and I believe I have found the issue. This error occurs when there is a simultaneous demand to fill the steam boiler (based on the steam boiler level) and you are pulling a shot. If you draw...

Re: Commencing Final Dream Temperature Tests
Question on how the displayed temperature changes during and after a warming pull with the new PID settings vs the old ones. With the new settings and a 10 second pull through an empty pf, with a setpoint of 199 F, the temperature drops to 189 during the pull, then after the pull rapidly recovers an...

Cleaning the brass dispersion disc
I've found a great way to restore the brass dispersion disc to the original clean shiny brass. Use a Dremel with the fine detail rubberized abrasive brush EZ473SA. Does not scratch or wear away the brass, just gets it clean and shiny.

Another alternative is to directly edit the settings file and use the Write/Read feature. I will give that a try tonight.

Chas: I assume this would be applicable to all Dream owners. Are there any consideration that we should be worried about before we try these?

Re: Failed water line
Oddly enough, all the 9 bar lines in the dream are plastic. Copper is used for the discharge of the 3 way which is low pressure.

Can anyone explain why LaSpaz changed from copper in the older machines to Teflon in the dreams for the key water lines? Seems like a less reliable and robust method.

Re: Failed water line
I don't think thats it. The vanes appear to be plastic only. There are two magnets in the hub of the impeller that are sensed by the top cover. I did note that there seems to be a bit of a backflow of hot brew boiler water back down the line to the output side of the flowmeter. You can feel that lin...

Re: Failed water line
I did notice one post where one of the vanes of the flowmeter was melted away. As for my problems, yes.....feeling real special. I am diligent with my care and use of this machine, and as an engineer, I understand the workings. The issues I've had look like QA/QC issues at assembly and manufacture. ...

Re: Failed water line
Followup on this problem. The line was replaced successfully, (dream uses teflon tubing and push in fittings instead of copper lines as used on the previous models). A few weeks have gone by, and I now have leakage at the push in fittings on the volumetric flowmeter. As well, I had a flowmeter failu...

Failed water line
Yesterday, while sitting idle, there was a high pitched whistling sound, followed by lots of steam. Machine had no alarms, steam boiler was intact and no overpressure. Top side of steam boiler was dry. But there was a steady flow of water running down the side of the steam boiler until I closed the ...

Re: Dream SW 1.19
So it sounds like you've figured out what units the Pid settings are in. Are you saying that 1.19 once it's issued will have updated Pid parameters in it?
And that the new settings will address the overshoot on temp you've observed?

Re: Machine Powers Off!
Do you have the latest firmware..... 1.17? One other thing I can think of is if your timer setting is such that it thinks it should be off now, then it will turn itself off when you exit the menu. So double check your timer settings after making sure your firmware is up to date.

It was a highly variable temperature indication that deteriorated over a few weeks. I took a video of the display.

Re: Dream vs GS/3 Throwdown
Based on a taste test with the setpoint at 200 F, I would say that an offset of 7 or 8 F works best for me. At 10 F, the first shot out, no flush, is good, and subsequent shots start to get dull and bitter. At 7, the first shot is too bright or sour and subsequent shots are good.

Re: Dream vs GS/3 Throwdown
Chas: Is there any update on settings, etc. based on discussions and testing from You and Jason? I did note that the new version of the Dream manual on the CCS website recommends an offset of 10 deg F. Should I just put this in or wait for new PID settings as well?

Group Cleaning function
Just doing my backflush routine, without detergent, and noted the icon for group cleaning in the menu. What I learned is that this is a pretty handy function. When activated, it does the backflush for you automatically, by running the pump for 5 seconds, pausing for 5 seconds, and repeating this seq...

There's an updated manual for download. The big improvement is that there is now a full listing of all the alarms with a good description of conditions and troubleshooting.
