Re: Timer Question

Better yet, after the morning latte ritual, you can turn the machine off. It will pick right up the next morning! This is because the machine receives different signals for "on" and "off". Not sure about the LaSpaziale timer. I have tied a third party timer into mine. Unfortunately, with the third p...

Re: CCS New precision screens and baskets

I got the set as a birthday present last week. While I am proud to have them as part of my setup, I find no discernible difference in quality of my coffee. This is pretty much as expected (although I would not have minded a pleasant surprise). My V2 already makes great lattes, I am not the most meti...

Re: alternative to Spaziale timer

KatKat and others, I just ordered some 4 pin connectors on eBay. I'll be getting 5 pairs, but only need one. So if anyone wants one, message me and I'll mail one to you after I get them. These are what I ordered: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5Set-4-PIN-RGB-Connector-Wire-For-3528-5050-SMD-LED-Strip-Cable...

Re: alternative to Spaziale timer

Today I discovered one drawback to the Seco Larm 7 day timer. Despite all it's fancy timer capabilities, it does not track DST!

Oh well, I still love having it.

Re: alternative to Spaziale timer

Sorry to take so long to respond. It is unlikely that I will get a chance to open my machine back to take any pictures in the near future. I find that this kind of work requires that I have the house to myself for a while. My mother-in-law has moved in indefinitely and her state of mind puts any pro...

Re: Minimum Warmup Time?

After about 30 minutes, the grouphead temp is stabilized at around 84 C. This is what I would consider the minimum warmup time. Your graph looks like the grouphead is still warming, but just at a very slow rate. How hot is it at an hour? Or if you leave it on all day? Also, how is your thermocouple...

Re: alternative to Spaziale timer

BTW, the timer is working great. And the box itself looks nice. My only complaint is that it has a very bright blue LED to indicate that it is on. I may put some tape over it to dim/block it. Functionally, I would look for a way to turn the 4 wires into a single plug so that the timer unit could eas...

Re: alternative to Spaziale timer

I am guessing that the middle wire is supposed to cary a data signal. Not sure what that entails, but it probably involves some voltage.

$54 is the best price that I have seen.

Re: S1 Dream machine Now taking pre-orders

I agree with the "Batman" look, or maybe a bit more "Autobot". And I am also not a fan of the newer PF handle design. That said, if I could afford it, I'd buy one --in this price range, it seems to me the S1 Dream is the machine to beat. OTOH, if I could afford it, I'd buy a GS3 Speedster. I bought ...

Re: alternative to Spaziale timer

I really doubt that 15v would blow the leds if they are rated to 14.8. What you might not like is that the timer connector power is always on. So if you use it, your LEDs will be always on.

Re: alternative to Spaziale timer

Oh, and I didn't do any beautiful placement of the timer, it is just wired and sitting on my table behind the V2. A later improvement will be to: 1) turn the wires out of the V2 into a 4 connection plug (with the 5th unused wire hidden) 2) turn the wires coming from the timer into a 4 connection rec...

Sorry, I started drawing it out, but then I got confused by the definition of N.O. (normally open) vs N.C. (normally closed). I connected my control board switch to N.O. and for a while was thinking that I had it wrong (despite testing) So to clear up a little, based on my understanding (any EEs sho...

1) make sure that you have good connections.
2) on my V2, the wires connection to the boiler are protected with silicone tubing. Slide it over the wire like a sleeve, connect, and push it down over the boiler connection

Re: Double and naked portafilter problem

Way overdosing. I have the triple basket in my bottomless PF and if I dose 21g, the dispersion screw makes a big dent. I don't have my pull perfected, but I am using the triple basket with a 20g dose for a 2.5oz pull (sorry for the mixed units, that's just how I measure). So you are dosing more into...

Re: Ask Chris Coffee

Other than the PID, are there any significant internal changes from the V2? Remember, a PID only gets you to the water setpoint accurately. Once you start making shots, brew temp stability is more driven by the overall design (i.e. grouphead design, etc). Anyone who has used Scace device can relate...

I am findig myself annoyed by the new handle; the tip is chromed plastic and wiggles a little. If anyone has a triple fitting bottomless with the original handle and wants to trade, LMK.

As I think it through some more, I need to figure out that I am considering the right interface. The timers that I have linked to tend to specify an input of 12-24 volts. I can test for this by checking the timer cable. Then they intend to switch power via a relay. Anyone have any idea if the Vivald...

Seperate preinfuision times for each shot button

I haven't really gotten into my use cases yet, but I envision myself pulling a shot and then running a small group cleaning flush.
Tt seems to me that it would be nice if I could set the preinfusion to whatever I like on one shot button and zero on the other.

Any more word on the better baskets? I cannot see them on the site linked.
I just got a bottomless PF with a triple basket from CC and it looks a lot like Endo's basket.

I use a VST Basket on my E61 machine and find it superior to the generic triple that I had before.
